The Lemosho Route is considered one of the most scenic trails on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering breathtaking views and a high success rate. This 7-day trek provides a gradual ascent, maximizing acclimatization and enhancing your summit chances.

Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Moshi/Arusha to Lemosho Gate. After registration, you’ll start your trek through the dense rainforest, spotting Colobus monkeys and exotic birds along the way. You’ll reach Big Tree Camp for your first overnight stay.

Habitat: Moorland
The trail ascends gradually through heather and moorland zones, offering breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau. You will cross Shira 1 Camp before continuing to Shira Camp 2, where you will camp under the stars with a clear view of Mount Meru in the distance.

Habitat: Alpine Desert
This day includes altitude acclimatization as you trek towards the Lava Tower (4,640 m), a key point to help your body adjust. After lunch, you’ll descend to Barranco Camp, located at the base of the iconic Barranco Wall, with stunning views of glaciers and towering cliffs.

Start your morning with the exciting climb up the Barranco Wall, a non-technical but exhilarating scramble. After reaching the top, you’ll trek through undulating terrain to Karanga Camp, a great acclimatization spot before the final push to the summit.

Habitat: Alpine Desert
A steady climb leads to Barafu Camp, the last stop before your summit attempt. You will have an early dinner and rest before starting your final ascent at midnight.

Habitat: Arctic to Rainforest
Around midnight, you will begin the push to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After witnessing the incredible sunrise from the summit, you will descend to Mweka Camp, passing through Stella Point (5,739 m) and Barafu Camp along the way.

The final descent takes you through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. After celebrating your success, a vehicle will transfer you back to Moshi/Arusha.
